About me
Mary Katherine Eldredge, Early Childhood librarian for Arlington, TX ISD, discovered her calling while sorting library books on her bookshelf in various ways at the age of 3. This pursuit was reaffirmed with an attempt to create a library in the attic at the age of 10. However, her less enthused, heat-abhorrent siblings made for problematic patrons. Through the junior high library club, a wondrously patient librarian continued to inspire and steer Mary in the right direction. After teaching PreK students in self-contained special education classes and early childhood students with severe and profound disabilities, she attained her dream of becoming a librarian. Mary now serves students and teachers at Kooken Education Center, Arlington ISD's early childhood campus, and the district's community-based PreK classes located within childcare centers throughout the city. She quite enjoys providing support and training on a myriad of topics for all early childhood teachers in the district. She is a past recipient of the Texas Library Association's Outstanding Services to Libraries award.
